MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR STEVEN MARTIN TADELMAN
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Steven Martin Tadelman on May 30, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Bom on June 6, 1947, Steve was the beloved husband of Marlem (nee Era) for 48 years; loving father of Jeffrey (Kimberly) and the late Kimberly; dear brother of Mark; devoted son of the late Abraham and Anne Tadelman; fond son-in-law of Esther and the late Luis Era; dear cousin to Miki and Rick; and cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. To his treasured family and friends who had the good fortune to know him, Steve leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Steve viewed public service as a noble profession and served in the National Guard for six years. He worked a variety of positions in city government, retiring as 39th Ward Street and Sanitation Superintendent; and
WHEREAS, Growing up in the 39th Ward on the 4800 block of Avers in Albany Park, Steve was a graduate of Volta Elementary and Roosevelt High School. As a longtime member of the 39th Ward Democratic Organization, Steve was an affectionate soul known for his loving heart and his corny jokes; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Steve Tadelman to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Despite our sorrow, we continue to preserve and glorify Steve's life. He touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness. Steve will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character and his compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore
