RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Jack Greenberg has announced his resignation as Chairman of the Metropolitan Pier & Exposition Authority; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his retirement by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority is a municipal corporation created by the Illinois General Assembly to attract trade shows, conventions, meetings, expositions and public events to the City of Chicago, and in the process, strengthen the economy of the area; and
WHEREAS, Jack Greenberg is stepping down to make time for his new role as Chairman of the Board of Quintiles Transnational, a Denver-based biopharmaceutical company; and
WHEREAS, Jack Greenberg ably served as Chairman of the McPier Board since 2012 and during his tenure approved and broke ground on a new 10,000-seat McCormick Place Event Center as well as a 1,206-room Marriott Marquis hotel; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Jack Greenberg, Lori Healey was named as McPier's new Chief Executive Officer; and
WHEREAS, Widely admired for his t
railblazing spirit, business acumen and experience, Jack Greenberg is Chairman of Western Union and a former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of McDonald's; and
WHEREAS, Jack Greenberg has generously given of his time and talents through his civic service as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Field Museum and DePaul University; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jack Greenberg serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifth day of October, 2016, do hereby congratulate Jack Greenberg on his highly distinguished tenure as Chairman of the Metropolitan Pier & Exposition Authority and do hereby express our best wishes for his success in all his future endeavors; and
