City Council January 27th, 2021
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Charles "Charlie" Cali, has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 96 to his eternal reward; and
WHERE AS , The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman ofthe 11th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Charles "Charlie" Cali; beloved husband ofthe late Dolores; loving father of Ken (Dianne), Sam ((Debbie) and the late Lynn (Frank) Maciejewski; cherished grandfather of 7; adored great-grandfather of 14; He is loved by many and will be missed greatly; and
WHEREAS, Charlie a U.S. Navy Veteran WWII, loved life and enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends; "Big Papa" lived for his family, especially his grandkids, He loved making bracelets and passing them out to friends and strangers alike; In the old neighborhood, he owned a grocery store in Bridgeport in the 1950's; He was famous for his spaghetti dinners at the VFW, He enjoyed going to the VFW, telling stories, joking and laughing with friends; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Charlie to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this twenty seventh of January 2021, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Charles Cali and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
