RESOLUTION TO HONOR THE 50ANNIVERSARY OF
THE GALE STREET INN AND THE PHILANTHROPY OF GEORGE KARZAS
WHEREAS, The Gale Street Inn opened in Jefferson Park in 1968, and has been a favorite long-time community establishment on the Northwest Side for 50 years;
and,
WHEREAS, The Gale Street Inn, a staple of Jefferson Park, will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2013, and long-time owner, George Karzas, has invested heavily in his business, Jefferson Park, and the City of Chicago for many years;
and,
WHEREAS, George Karzas, a Jefferson Park resident, has dedicated much of his life to the Jefferson Park neighborhood and his restaurant, and has also committed much of his time to philanthropic and charitable causes throughout Jefferson Park
and the City of Chicago; and,
WHEREAS, The 50th anniversary of the Gale Street Inn will be used as a year of philanthropic giving to local charities and causes such as: The Gift Theatre; Arts Alive 45; The Greater Chicago Food Depository; the Chicago Gateway Green; Portage Park Helping Hands; and Misericordia, among many others;
now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council, gathered together this 13 th day of March 2013 AD, do hereby congratulate the Gale Street Inn on its 50th anniversary, and Geroge Karzas on his many philanthropic and community accomplishments he has undertaken in the Jefferson Park and
greater Chicago communities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the Gale Street Inn and George Karzas.
