WHEREAS, Rita Rose Martin has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God to her eternal reward at the age of 85; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Patrick D. Thompson, Alderman of the 11th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Rita Rose Martin (nee Higgins) of Canaryville (45th and Normal), devoted wife of the late Leroy Martin. Loving mother of John (Mary), the late Leroy (Jacqueline) Martin, and Patrice (Gerald) Griffin. Cherished grandmother of Sara, Jonathon (Catherine), Jennifer, Sean, Kate (Ricardo), Lee (Annie), Elizabeth, Michael Martin, and Justin (Colleen), Bridget, and Noreen (Emily) Griffin. Proud great-grandmother of Leah, Kinsey, Blake, Sofia and Benecio Lee. Devoted daughter of the late John and Bridget Higgins. Dear sister of the late Theresa Collins, the late Frances Gabler, the late Noreen Manow, the late Jackie Higgins and Barbara Pelech Fahey and Joan Riordan. Fond aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews and many friends! and
WHEREAS, Rita Rose Martin was a devoted St. Gabriel Church parishioner, Lifetime member of the St. Gabriel Women's Club, Member of the St. Gabriel Senior Club, and the Senior Citizens Clubs of Taylor-Lauridsen and Armour Square Parks; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Rita Rose Martin to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twelfth day of December 2018, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Rita Rose Martin and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rita Rose Martin.
