ORDER
WHEREAS, the Chicago Fire Department occasionally upgrades equipment that has become outdated or obsolete; and
WHEREAS, such equipment formerly used by the Chicago Fire Department may nevertheless remain useful to firefighters working in developing countries; and
WHEREAS, many countries in the developing world are in need of such equipment and are eager to receive donations from the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, the City of Chicago intends to provide much needed assistance to firefighters working in developing countries; now therefore
BE IT ORDERED, that the Commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department and the Commissioner of the Department of Fleet and Facility Management are hereby ordered to provide the Chairman of the Committee on Public Safety with a complete inventory of outdated, obsolete, decommissioned and unserviceable fire equipment such as, but not limited to, ambulances, fire trucks, sirens, hoses, defibrillators, two-way radios and bunker gear; and
BE IT FURTHER ORDERED, that the Commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department and the Commissioner of the Department of Fleet and Facility Management are hereby ordered to develop a procedure under which such outdated, obsolete, decommissioned and unserviceable fire equipment shall be conveyed to the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters International for the purpose of donating such equipment to developing countries for firefighters' use.
