WHEREAS, Born Joanne McArdle, Joanne was raised on the West Side of Chicago; and;
WHEREAS, With her husband Ed, Joanne brought six children into the world and increased the census of loyal and true Irish; and;
WHEREAS, Joanne was best known for her contagious smile and loving nature; and;
WHEREAS, Joanne demonstrated her commitment to her community by being a founding member of the St. Angela School Board and the Home & School Association; and;
WHEREAS, Joanne also served as the Treasurer, Vice President and President of the St. Eugene Altar and Rosary; and;
WHEREAS, Joanne proved herself to be among the most dedicated, brightest, and most cheerful employees of the Chicago Board of Trade; and;
WHEREAS, After a courageous battle with brain cancer leading to a debilitating six months, Joanne was called Home on August 25, 2013;
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixteenth day of October, 2013, do hereby express our heartfelt gratitude to Joanne for improving the lives of those around her and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy upon her passing; and;
Be It Further Resolved, That September 9, 2014 be celebrated as Joanne O'Leary Day in Chicago; and;
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joanne O'Leary.
