MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR ROSE MARIE GALANTE
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Rose Marie Galante (nee Fosco) on January 26, 2019 at the age of 86; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Rose, a longtime resident of Glenview, Illinois, was the loving wife of the late John P. Galante, Sr.; beloved mother of Nicollete (John) Conway, Susan (Mario) Mangino, John (Elena) and Dan Galante; and
WHEREAS, Rose was the proud grandmother of Courtney (Tim) O'Connor, Jack (Samantha), Patrick and Cara Conway, Anthony and Michael Mangino, Laura (Tihomir Yankov) Galante, and James (Joanna) Galante; dearest great-grandmother of Ottavio Yankov and Charlie O'Connor; dear sister of Eleanor Caines, Robert (JoAnn) Fosco, and the late Orlando Galante, and
WHEREAS, Rose was dedicated to her community through various civic activities over the years; in 1987 she was named Grand Marshal of the Glenview 4th of July Parade, helping and entertaining her fellow residents; and
WHEREAS, Rose deeply touched the lives of those who knew and loved her. She will be forever missed, but fondly remembered for her character, vivacious spirt, and thoughtful ways; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we the Mayor and Members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this thirteenth day of March, 2019, do hereby express our sympathy upon learning of the passing of Rose Marie Galante, and extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Rose Marie Galante., as a sign of our honor and respect.
