RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Members of this Chamber are pleased to honor Randy Conner, Commissioner of Water Management, on the occasion of his retirement after a career with the City filled with accomplishments; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Conner,a lifelong residentof the West Pullman neighborhood, comes from a family traditionally oriented to public service though City employment. Mr. Conneristhe son of thelate Alfonzo"Bear"Conner,a cementfinisherforeman with the Chicago Departmentof Transportation ("CDOT"), and is the nephew ofthe late Al Conner, whowas a former deputy commissioner of CDOT in the Bureau of Streets; and
WHEREAS, Beginning whatwould be 25 years of service to the City, Mr. Conner started in CDOT as an Engineering Technician IV; and
WHEREAS, Employing top-notch skills and an exemplary work ethic, Randy Connerworked his way up to the positions of First Deputy Commissioner in both CDOT and in the Department of Streets and Sanitation; and
WHEREAS, He was appointed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel to Commissioner of the Department of Water Management in June 2017 and asked to stay on as commissioner by Mayor Lori Lightfoot; and
WHEREAS, As Commissioner, Randy Conner tirelessly worked to upgrade the City's water distribution infrastructure, overseeing a system that includes over 4,300 miles of water ...
