CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO MAX ZELENKA ON EARNING THE RANK OF EAGLE
SCOUT
WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Max Zelenka of Eden United Church of Christ Scout Troup 963 has passed his Eagle Scout Board of Review earning him the rank of Eagle Scout, scouting's highest achievement; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of this special occasion by The Honorable John Arena, Alderman ofthe 45th Ward; and
WHEREAS, As Max's Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project, he built a raised watering storage for Olive's Neighborhood Garden for the Hungry, designing and managing the construction of a raised surface holding nine 50 gallon drums and plumbing, an essential component of a successful garden. With the completion of this project, a local food pantry will now feed the homeless with the food harvested from this community garden; and
WHEREAS, Max has utilized his skills and craftsmanship to complete a project that not only requires dedicated volunteer work and specialized knowledge, but also contributes to help those less fortunate in his community; and
WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout is achieved by only two percent of young men who enroll in the scouting program. To become an Eagle Scout, a Scout must earn twenty-one merit badges in addition to completing several community service projects; and
WHEREAS, Max Zelenka has completed all the requirements and has been examined by an Eagle Scout Board of Review, certifying his worthiness for Scouting's highest distinction and now joins the ranks of many successful and influential Eagle Scouts; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this fifth day of February 2014, do hereby extend our heartiest congratulations to Max Zelenka on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and wish him every success in any and all of his future endeavors; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Max Zelenka.
