RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, James J. Roche has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 73; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Jim was the beloved husband of 49 years to Ellen (nee Napleton), loving father of Shannon (Dominique) Vargas, Megan (John) Steigauf and Patrick (Molly) Roche, devoted grandfather of Anna, Emily, Betty, Murphy, William, Shea and Evelyn, cherished brother of Katherine (Edward F,) Napleton and the late Edward J. and William J. (Josephine) Roche, proud uncle of many nieces and nephews, and

WHEREAS, Jim was born to Edward and Marian Roche on December 13,1948; and

WHEREAS, He grew up in Marquette Park, where he attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine and graduated from Brother Rice High School, from which he graduated in 1967; and

WHEREAS, He went on to Loyola University, receiving his bachelor's degree in 1971 and his law degree in 1975; and

WHEREAS, Throughout college years, Jim was fond of his days working as an Andy Frain Usher; and

WHEREAS, Jim met his beloved wife Ellen in 1971 and were married at St. Walter's Church on August 11,1973. They then became the parents of Shannon, Megan and Patrick; and

WHEREAS, Jim had a larger than life personality, was proud of his Irish Catholic Heritage, and was a brilliant attorney; and

WHEREAS, Jim was a prominent member ofthe Chicago legal community for over 45 years and was a mentor and friend to many; and

WHEREAS, When Jim wasn't spending time with family or working, he enjoyed golf and season tickets to virtually every Chicago sports team, and enthusiastically shared golf games and sports tickets with relatives, friends, colleagues, and clients; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Jim imparts a legacy of generosity, compassion, devotion to family and unwavering faith in God; now, therefore
