RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Peter J. O'Brien, Sr., a widely admired Chicago business and civic leader, has been named a Hometown Hero by the Irish American Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this honor by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. O'Brien, Sr., has long been dedicated to Irish culture and is the Past President and Chairman of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, As the organization's Chairman, Peter J. O'Brien, Sr., provided remarkable leadership overseeing the compilation and edit of its Centennial History; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. O'Brien, Sr., is the President of MADO Management, LP, a family-owned corporation which is in the business of real estate management and development, nursing home operations and restaurant and resort operations; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. O'Brien, Sr., is perhaps most identified with O'Brien's Restaurant and Bar in Old Town; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. O'Brien, Sr., serves as a Trustee and Past Chairman of the Old Town Merchants and Residents Association, is a member of the Ambassadors of Mercy Board for Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, the Greater Michigan Avenue Association and is the Chairman of the Capital Development Board; and
WHEREAS, Peter J. O'Brien, Sr., has been on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau/Choose Chicago, the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority and the Illinois Development and Finance Authority; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Peter J. O'Brien, Sr., serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirtieth day of April, 2014, do hereby congratulate Peter J. O'Brien, Sr., on receiving this prestigious honor and do hereby extend our best wishes for his continued success and achievement; and
