RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Louis G. Apostol, a widely admired member of the Greek-American community, has been inducted into the United Hellenic Voters of America Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Louis G. Apostol is an attorney and serves as the Executive Director and Counsel for the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board; and
WHEREAS, In his role as Executive Director, Louis G. Apostol is responsible for the management and adjudication of all residential, commercial, industrial and farm property tax appeals in Illinois.
WHEREAS, A committed leader who is dedicated to the values of the Greek-American community, Louis G. Apostol has served as the President of the Hellenic Foundation in Illinois and is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Hellenic American Congress and UHAC Publications; and
WHEREAS, The United Hellenic Voters of America was founded in 1974 by Dr. Dimitrios Kyriazopoulos to promote political activism among its members and to encourage people of Hellenic ancestry to participate in civic affairs in order to become effective voices in government; and
WHEREAS, The organization has grown to include thousands of members and chapters in several states; and
WHEREAS, At a gala event held on October 20, 2013, United Hellenic Voters of America recognized Louis G. Apostol as a true friend of the organization and exceptional civic leader and public servant; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of November, 2013, do hereby congratulate Louis G. Apostol on receiving this prestigious honor; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Louis G. Apostol.
