WHEREAS, On Saturday, July 12, 2014 the Big Brother Mentor Program celebrated the 20th year anniversary with a Reunion Luncheon at the Garden Chalet, 11000 South Ridgeland Avenue, Worth, Illinois 60482
 
WHEREAS, The youth of our society are constantly facing social and academic challenges due to lack of exposure to positive leadership; and
 
WHEREAS, Media, celebrities, social surroundings and other mechanisms influence and encourage negative behavior and attitudes for our youths to lead successful lives; and
 
WHEREAS, The Monument of Faith Outreach Ministry founded the Big Brother Mentor Program in 1994 to provide mentorship to young men; and
 
WHEREAS, To empower our youth through guidance in spiritual, academic, mental and social strengths; and
 
WHEREAS, The program offers positive workshops, classes, field trips, and activities that inspire and prepare young men to be productive in their homes, schools, and communities; now, therefore,
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Lona Lane, Alderman of the 18th Ward, has apprised this august body of this auspicious occasion; now, therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this thirtieth day of July, 2014 A.D., do hereby extend to the Big Brother Mentor Program our best and happiest wishes upon this occasion; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to The Monument of Faith Outreach Ministry.
