RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Michael O'Connell has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Tinley Park, Michael O'Connell was the loving and devoted husband of Barb; and
WHEREAS, Michael O'Connell was the much-adored father of Colleen, Michael and Michelle and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities which he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Michael O'Connell ably served as Tinley Park's Police Chief for nearly sixteen years; and
WHEREAS, Prior to his role in Tinley Park, Michael O'Connell was the Police Chief for the Riverdale Police Department for six years; and
WHEREAS, Michael O'Connell was known not only for his fine police work, but also for his roles as husband, father, outdoorsman, parishioner, friend and confidant; and
WHEREAS, Michael O'Connell will be remembered by all who knew him as a consummate law enforcement professional and a man of character; and
WHEREAS, Michael O'Connell will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends, and colleagues; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Michael O'Connell imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighteenth day of May, 2011, do hereby commemorate Michael O'Connell for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael O'Connell.
