RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McKeon has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of sixty-three; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, A proud part of the Bridgeport neighborhood, Thomas J. McKeon was a widely admired Chicago funeral director; and
 
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McKeon was the beloved father of Joseph and Matthew to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
 
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McKeon was the brother of the late U.S. Marine Corps Lieutenant Joseph T. McKeon, Jr., posthumously awarded a Silver Star for conspicuous bravery during the Vietnam War; and
 
WHEREAS, Thomas J. McKeon was also the brother of the late Lollie L. McKeon, a veteran member of the United States Foreign Service, the first female President of Rotary International and a past Vice President of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago; and
 
WHEREAS, Owner and operator of McKeon Funeral Home for forty years, Thomas J. McKeon brought compassion and comfort to countless grieving families; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Thomas J. McKeon serve as an example to all; and
 
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Thomas J. McKeon to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
 
 
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Thomas J. McKeon imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of September, 2013, do hereby commemorate Thomas J. McKeon for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas J. McKeon.
