A Resolution Honoring Anthony "Tony" Nylander
WHEREAS, Urban theorist, laborer, rich, poor—-whatever our station in life, we intellectually and/or instinctively know that as a society we are wholly dependent upon the individual to transform the administrative structures organized as governments into the caring, social structures of true communities; and
WHEREAS, Anthony "Tony" Nylander was such an individual, perpetually working within his roles as husband, brother, friend and neighbor to forge a sense of community that had an indelible impact, not only on his family and friends but on the cities, towns, and villages where he made his home; and
WHEREAS, Tony was that rare individual whose unmitigated selflessness caused him to ask what he could do for others without thought of reward or recognition; and
WHEREAS, A master accountant who belied the notion of a meek numbers-cruncher, Tony was an expert hunter, fisherman, electrician, plumber, mechanic, boat restorer, and home rehabber whose variegated talents were exceeded only by his humility; and
WHEREAS, The media often speak of heroes, but Tony's family and friends have a very special understanding of that necessarily unique combination of qualities that constitutes a hero; and
WHEREAS, Those who knew Tony understand the rarity of a man whose joy was derived from
giving of himself to others and would like to be more like him; and
WHEREAS, They are cognizant of how special was a man who adopted everyone who crossed his
life's path and would like to be more like him; and
WHEREAS, Tony's family and legion of friends recognize the singularity of a man whose love and
concern and sense of justice extended to all around him and would like to be more like him; and
WHEREAS, Tony was a man whose perseverance over and complete disregard for physical setÂbacks continually served as a source of personal inspiration to all who knew him; now, therefore,
