CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO SANDRA ALFRED HER RETIREMENT AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CHICAGO ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL
WHEREAS, Sandra Alfred has retired from her position as Executive Director of Chicago Animal Care and Control; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of this occasion by Alderman Margaret Laurino, 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Sandra began her career with the City of Chicago in 1988, before taking the role of Deputy Director, in 2000, with Chicago Animal Care and Control. A position that she held for eleven years and she had been the department's Acting Director twice, prior to being named Executive Director by Mayor Rahm Emanuel on April 1, 2012; and.
WHEREAS, She was a champion for animal rights and advocate for animal care, collaborating with various agencies in order to continue to provide humane temporary shelter of lost and unwanted animals in the City of Chicago, while continuing to enforce laws involving animals that pose a risk to public safety; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed to Executive Director Sandra Alfred on many years of service with the City of Chicago and the Chicago Animal Care and Control; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered here this eighteenth day of November, 2015 do hereby express our gratitude and heartiest congratulations to Sandra Alfred as she retires and we extend to this fine citizen our very best wishes for continuing success and fulfillment; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Sandra Alfred.
