RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John E. Wilson has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, John E. Wilson was the loving husband of Velma; and
WHEREAS, John E. Wilson was the much-adored father of Ginger and Kelly to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Raised in the Bronzeville/Grand Boulevard community, John E. Wilson enjoyed a long and successful career as a certified public accountant and founded Wilson & Gills and John E. Wilson, Ltd.; and
WHEREAS, John E. Wilson served for twenty-four years with the Public Building Commission of Chicago after being elected Assistant Treasurer during the administration of Mayor Harold Washington; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Navy, John E. Wilson was the first African-American to receive a bachelor of science degree from Northwestern University's School of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, John E. Wilson was a valued member of the Union League Club of Chicago, the Economic Club of Chicago and the National Association of Minority CPA's, among other organizations; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of John E. Wilson serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared John E. Wilson to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, John E. Wilson will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, John E. Wilson imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
