RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Monsignor Michael M. Boland has been honored at the 116th Annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner and chosen as the 2017 Guest of Honor at the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago has supported Chicago's civic, cultural and educational community for over 115 years, and provides scholarship assistance to every Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Monsignor Michael M. Boland serves as the Administrator, President and CEO of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago which is one of the largest social service agencies in the Midwest and one of the largest Catholic charity organizations in the nation; and
WHEREAS, Monsignor Michael M. Boland received a bachelor's degree in business administration from St. Xavier University before attending St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary where he earned a bachelor's degree in Sacred Theology and a master's degree in Divinity; and
WHEREAS, In 1986 Monsignor Michael M. Boland was ordained and served at Mater Christi Parish and St. Damian Parish before he became Associate Administrator for Catholic Charities in 1994; and
WHEREAS, In 1995 Monsignor Michael M. Boland went on to complete his master's degree in social work at Loyola University; and
WHEREAS, In 1997 Monsignor Michael M. Boland succeeded Bishop Edwin Conway as Administrator of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Known for his bold vision to expand services specifically in the areas of affordable housing, senior services, veteran services and nutrition, Monsignor Michael M. Boland has expanded Catholic Charities to an agency with 157 programs in 162 locations across Cook and Lake Counties, with over 2500 staff serving more than one million people each year; and
