WHEREAS, Sarah Brady has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 73; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Brady was the loving of wife ofthe late James Brady, the former White House Press Secretary who was shot and left partially disabled from an assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan in 1981; and
WHEREAS, Along with her husband, Sarah Brady became a nationally recognized champion of gun control; and
WHEREAS, A woman of immense courage and strength, Sarah Brady chaired the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence; and
WHEREAS, In 1993 President Bill Clinton signed into law the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act; and
WHEREAS, The tireless efforts of Sarah Brady helped to save countless lives and dramatically showed how the resilient efforts of a few can make a difference on national policy; and
WHEREAS, Sarah Brady will be dearly missed by her many family members, friends and admirers; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of April, 2015, do hereby commemorate the grace-filled life of Sarah Brady and do hereby offer our condolences to her family; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sarah Brady.
