MEMORIAL RESOLUTION CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF MARY ANN MC GEE
WHEREAS, On Monday, March 14, 2011, Mary Ann McGee, outstanding citizen and beloved friend had been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, Born May 5, 1943 in Huntsville, Alabama to her loving parents Laymon and Rosie Mae Sledge. She was the eldest of ten and at the age of two she and her family made Chicago their home. She attended Lindbloom Technical High School and later attended college. She retired from Graham Packaging Company in 2003 after thirty-four years of stellar service; and
WHEREAS, A cherished friend and good neighbor to all, Mary Ann McGee had enriched the lives ofthe young and the old. She will be deeply missed but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ann's hobbies included writing poetry, pottery painting, bowling and was an avid reader; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Toni L. Foulkes, Alderman of the 15th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Her parents, siblings: baby Sledge, Edward Sledge, and Colleen Knight; and her daughter, Andrea Osborn, having predeceased her, Mary Ann McGee leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life her seven children, Marcla, Loyvonne, Kenneth, Pamela, Michael, Menilek and Raquel; six siblings, Geraldine, Layman Jr., Chiquita, Karen, Patricia and Anthony; uncle, William; aunt, Ruby; twenty-five grandchildren four great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and many friends; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Mary Becker to her family members, friends and all who knew her and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this thirteenth day of April, 201L A.D., do hereby commemorate Mary Ann McGee for her grace-filled life and do hereby join her loved...
