RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Deborah M. Clark has been honored for twenty years of outstanding dedication to Chicago's youth as Principal of Mark T. Skinner West Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Friends, teachers and colleagues of Deborah M. Clark recognized this important milestone at a celebration on September 18, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Under Deborah M. Clark, Skinner West has increased enrollment from 250 to 750 students, while demonstrating significant gains in learning outcomes and standardized test scores; and
WHEREAS, A classical, fine arts and technology school, Skinner West has built a new facility that is fully accessible to people with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Deborah M. Clark has been the proud recipient of the Outstanding Principal School Leadership Award from the Chicago Principal Association and LaSallle Bank; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rahm Emanuel presented Deborah M. Clark with the Principal Achievement Award for 2013; and
WHEREAS, Deborah M. Clark and her staff have built an inspiring model for other schools; and
WHEREAS, The dynamic efforts of Deborah M. Clark have helped to empower our youth to strive for excellence; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this sixteenth day of October, 2013, do hereby commend Skinner West Principal Deborah M. Clark for her tireless dedication to the education and formation of young people; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Deborah M. Clark.
