RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The clergy and faithful of Saint Bruno's Parish will celebrate the joyful occasion of its 90th Anniversary at a festive celebration on Saturday, October 3, 2015; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this jubilee event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, In September of 1925, the Reverend Alexis Gorski was appointed by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago as the founding Pastor of Saint Bruno Parish, located at 4751 South Harding Avenue on the Southwest Side of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Under the guidance and direction of a successor, the Reverend Francis Modrzenski, Saint Bruno's Parish dedicated a new church in August of 1955 and constructed a new rectory in 1959; and
WHEREAS, A new school hall and gym were added under the Reverend Edmund Szlanga in 1978 and a shrine was dedicated to Our Lady of Czestochowa in 1983; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Joseph Grembla oversaw a multi-million-dollar Noise Abatement Project for Saint Bruno's School in 1995 and completed a renovation of the church in 1998; and
WHEREAS, Since 2009 St. Bruno Parish has flourished under the pastoral care and leadership of the Reverend Antoni Bury, a native of Poland, who has proudly continued to build upon the traditions established by his predecessors; and
WHEREAS, Saint Bruno's Church has been an integral and special part of the community for 90 years and has enriched the lives and souls of all its members; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor, and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled this 24th day of September, 2015, do hereby congratulate Saint Bruno's Parish on its 90th Anniversary and do hereby extend our best wishes to clergy and congregation; and
