RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Healthcare Alternative Systems, Inc. was established in 1974 and is committed to promoting the well-being of the residents of the Back of the Yards and New City neighborhoods; and,
WHEREAS, on June 24, 2011, the Youth Prevention Program will hold a ceremony unveiling the work of many talented young people, the ceremony is a dedication and special thank you to the Back of the Yard Community - where Healthcare Alternative Systems has supported the unification of families and the building of bridges in the community for over 37 years; and,
WHEREAS, Healthcare Alternative Systems, (HAS) Youth Prevention Program, since 1980 has provided excellent services to the youths strengthening the relationship between children and their parents; and,
WHEREAS, The Youth Prevention Program engages the neighborhood's underserved children in new experiences to improve their lifestyle and decision-making skills; and,
WHEREAS, since its inception, Healthcare Alternative Systems has expanded its' operations to nine facilities throughout the Chicago area and become one of the region's leading providers of behavioral health services; and,
WHEREAS, becoming one of the most all-inclusive in its services, HAS augments its outpatient substance abuse programs not only with gender-specific intensive, residential, and transitional treatment programs for youth and adults, but with behavioral health programs that seek to improve individual, family, and community quality of life; and,
WHEREAS, The Youth Prevention Program strives to beautify the neighborhood and work towards creating a more peaceful environment by helping youths stay out of crime involvement and drug use; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that we the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 6th day of July, 2011, invite all the residents of the community to join me in honoring and congratulating the staff and youths engaged in this program, and for the astonishing work they display...
