RESOLUTION HONORING 38™ WARD ALDERMAN NICHOLAS S. SPOSATO ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, The Honorable Firefighter Nicholas "Nick" S. Sposato retired from the Chicago Fire Department on November 30, 2019, after 26 years of outstanding and distinguished firefighting service to the residents of the City ofChicago; and,

WHEREAS, Firefighter Sposato joined the Chicago Fire Department on September 1, 1993. He was first assigned to Tower Ladder 14 in Chicago's Austin neighborhood, and held further assignments with Truck 58 in Belmont Cragin, Truck 35 in Bucktown, and Truck 9 in Oriole Park. While on-the-job, he served as a five-time elected Steward within the Chicago Fire Fighter's Union Local 2; and,

WHEREAS, Firefighter Sposato and members of Truck 58 and Truck Company 35 were honored for acts of heroism and stamina in rescuing an elderly couple found unconscious in a basement unit in the 2900 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue in January 2005;

WHEREAS, Firefighter Sposato was first elected as Alderman of Chicago's 36th Ward in 2011, and took a leave of absence from the job. He was re-elected as Alderman of the 38th Ward in 2015 and again in 2019, extending his compassion forpublic service, as the elected official for the residents ofthe 36th and 38th Wards; and,

WHEREAS, Firefighter Sposato has shown a lifelong commitment to public service beyond his tenure at the Chicago Fire Department and Chicago City Council. First recognized as a Junior Leader by the Chicago Park District in 1975, the Honorable Sposato served as President of the Sayre Language Academy Local School Council, was President of the Trinity High School Father's Club, and remains active with the Chicago Fire F...
