Resolution: Daniel Gomez
WHEREAS, The members of the City Council of Chicago wish to recognize the many accomplishments of Daniel Gomez throughout his career; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Gomez will retire as Principal of Hayt Elementary at the end ofthe 2021-2022 school year; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been notified of his retirement by The Honorable Harry Osterman, Alderman of the 48th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Principal Daniel Gomez began his career at Uptown's Stockton Elementary School, launching a career spanning more than 30 years in education; and
WHEREAS, Principal Gomez was the dean of student discipline at Casimir Pulaski Academy, where he encouraged the growth and improvement of students by creating a supportive educational environment; and
WHEREAS, he arrived at Stephen K. Hayt Elementary School 19 years ago, where he served as assistant principal for two years before becoming the principal, beginning his critical work to improve the student experience; and
WHEREAS, Principal Gomez lead many initiatives at Hayt School to benefit the school building, including improving accessibility through ADA upgrades that brought in an elevator and improved the auditorium; and
WHEREAS, he was awarded a grant and added a playground to the west play area of the school, which is representative of his work to improve recreational features of the school, including upgrades to the soccer field, gymnasium, and cafeteria; and
WHEREAS, Principal Gomez's dedication improved the academic experience at Hayt, as he worked to support amazing teachers in their skill development in order to sustain growth at the school; and
WHEREAS, the leadership of Principal Daniel Gomez earned Hayt positive ratings by Chicago Public Schools over the last 6 years and the recognition of the school as a hidden gem for student growth and success; and
