SALUTE TO PETER JENKINS. JR.
WHEREAS, Almighty God in His Infinite Wisdom has granted Peter Jenkins Jr. birth into eternity on September 24, 2010; and
WHEREAS, Peter Jenkins Jr. was born August 30, 1936 to the union of Annie and Peter Jenkins Sr. who predeceased him. He moved to Chicago in 1951 and, in 1956, he married Mavis Jean Elland. This loving ciouple was blessed with raising nine children. In 1966, Petert started work for Lake River Terminals and retired in 1991 to spend more quality time with his family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Peter Jenkins Jr. had many family and friends who knew him as a kind-hearted man with a great sense of humor. The love he had for his children grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was unparalleled; and
WHEREAS, Peter Jenkins Jr. passed away at the age of 74 after a long battle with lung cancer. He leaves to mourn his loss and celebrate his life his wife of 54 years, Mavis Jean Jenkins; eight children, Rick, Steve, Frank, Jerry, Nancy, Michael, Maurice and Peter; one brother, three sisters, 27 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of the passing of Peter Jenkins Jr. by the Honorable Deborah L. Graham, Alderman of the 29th Ward; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled on this 9th Day of February, 2011 AD, do hereby express our sincere sorrow on the passing of Peter Jenkins Jr. and extend our deepest condolences to his family and all those whose lives he touched.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Peter Jenkins Jr.
