RESOLUTION HONORING SERGEANT E5 JAMES HEALY
WHEREAS, Sergeant, E5, James Healy was among the honorees at the Eighteenth Annual Salute to American Heroes on November 3, 2019, and;
WHEREAS, This body was informed of that honor by Alderman Samantha Nugent, and;
WHEREAS, Sergeant, E5, Jim Healy joined the United States Army in 1990. He reported to basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he trained for the Advanced Individual Training program and for Combat Engineering. Following, he attended Tennessee Military Academy to undergo the "non-commissioned officer" training program.
WHEREAS, After graduation, Jim Healy was given the rank of Sergeant E5. From there, he served with the 652" Engineer Battalion, stationed in Joliet, Illinois.
WHEREAS, Throughout his service, Jim Healy received the National Defense Medal; the Expert M16 Weapon Award; the Expert Hand grenade Award; and the Army Commendation Ribbon.
WHEREAS, Outside of his military assignments, Jim Healy joined the Chicago Police Department on December 2nd, 1991. His first assignment was a patrolman and gang tactical team officer in the 19th Police District. He served in this position for twenty-five years. WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Jim Healy has received four department commendations; two lifesaving awards; over one hundred honorable mentions; and nine letters of commendation from private citizens.
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this Fifteenth day of January, 2020, do hereby express our congratulations to Sergeant, E5, Jim Healy on his well-deserved honor; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sergeant, E5, Jim Healy as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
