RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Jack Jordan has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of eighty-nine; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Jack Jordan was a retired member of Chicago's journalism community and the loving and devoted husband for forty-eight years of Raeona; and
WHEREAS, Jack Jordan was the much-adored father of Matt, Melissa, Maureen and Wendy and the grandfather of three to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Jack Jordan bravely served his country in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II on ships that supplied England and braved torpedo attacks by Nazi submarines; and
WHEREAS, Jack Jordan enjoyed a long and highly successful career as an artist with the Chicago Sun-Times where for decades his renderings accompanied stories with meticulous attention to detail; and
WHEREAS, Jack Jordan's "cutaway" cross sections illustrated the Mirage Tavern undercover investigation, the highly controversial 1969 fatal raid on the Black Panther Party and countless other high-profile stories; and
WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the Chicago Sun-Times, Jack Jordan drew the "Behind the Door" cartoons depicting life on the Wisconsin peninsula for the Door County Advocate and penciled a weekly sky chart for stargazers; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jack Jordan serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Jack Jordan to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Jack Jordan will be dearly missed by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Jack Jordan imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
