RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Richard M. Cronin has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 89; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Richard M. Cronin was a widely admired member of the medical community and the loving husband of Claire, nee Cusack; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Richard M. Cronin was the much-adored father of Richard Jr., Dr. Cathleen, Brian, Cynthia, the Honorable Daniel, Rosanne, Sheila, Thomas and John, and the grandfather of thirty-eight to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A native of Oak Park, Dr. Richard M. Cronin graduated from Notre Dame University where he played both offense and defense on the football team and earned his medical degree from Loyola University in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Richard M. Cronin was an orthopedic surgeon who specialized in sports medicine; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Richard M. Cronin cared for his patients at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, St. Anne's Hospital and Loretto Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Richard M. Cronin was also a clinical professor of medicine at Loyola University where he was Vice Chairman and Program Director of the medical school's orthopedics department; and
WHEREAS, Following a long and illustrious career, Dr. Richard M. Cronin retired from medical practice in the 1990s which allowed him to assist his son, the Honorable Daniel, during campaigns for the Illinois Senate and for DuPage County Board Chairman; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Richard M. Cronin serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. Richard M. Cronin to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
