CONGRATULATIONS EXTENDED TO THERESA ANNUNZIO ON RETIREMENT AS A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER AT NORTHSIDE LEARNING CENTER.
WHEREAS, Theresa Annunzio, who began her teaching career as a special education teacher with Chicago Public Schools in 1971, is retiring from the Northside Learning Center; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Annunzio, began teaching students with mild cognitive disabilities at Emmet School in 1971; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Annunzio, was transferred to O.A. Thorp School in 1973, where she taught students, ages 6-10, with moderate cognitive disabilities, discovering that she truly enjoyed fostering educational opportunities amongst these students; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Annunzio, was offered a teaching position at Northside Learning Center in 1983, where she has been Team Coordinator, Transportation Coordinator, Program Coordinator and most importantly, Special Education Teacher; and
WHEREAS, Theresa Annunzio, is retiring at the end of the 2011 school year with thirty-six years of service as a Special Education Teacher with the Chicago Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, The leaders of this great City of Chicago are cognizant of the great debt owed our Special Education Teachers; now therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eighth day of June, 2011, do hereby express our gratitude and heartiest congratulations to Theresa Annunzio as she retires and we extend to this fine citizen our very best wishes for continuing success and fulfillment; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Theresa Annunzio.
