A TRIBUTE TO SAINT CONSTANCE PARISH
WHEREAS, In 1916a group of ninety families worked together under the leadership of Father Alexander Knitter to build a Catholic parish to serve the community of Jefferson Park; and
WHEREAS, In 1917 the Sisters of Notre Dame founded Saint Constance School to educate their first class of seventy-two students; and
WHEREAS, Saint Constance Parish has been a pillar of the Polish community on the Northwest Side and continues to hear confessions in Polish, as well as holding a Polish liturgy every Sunday; and
WHEREAS, Saint Constance Parish continues to thrive and grow under the leadership of Father Ted Dzieszko; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City of Chicago City Council, gathered this 5th day of October, 2016 AD, do hereby pause to pay tribute to the civic achievements of the Saint Constance Parish and celebrate their 100 year jubilee.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Saint Constance Parish.
