Resolution Honoring Provident Hospital School of Nursing
WHEREAS, Quality, affordable and accessible patient centered healthcare, provided by skilled practitioners, contributes to the well-being and quality of life for all the citizens of Chicago, IL; and
WHEREAS, Nurses are often the first point of contact for many patients and play a vital role in helping patients understand their healthcare needs and empower them to become effective advocates for themselves; and
Whereas, Provident Hospital School of Nursing graduate nurses have demonstrated excellence in clinical care by their commitment and delivery of culturally competent patient care throughout the health care system; and
WHEREAS, Provident graduate nurses are academically and clinically prepared to provide healthcare services and, in extended roles, including diagnosis and treatment of disease, assisting in surgery and prescribing medications with the direction of a supervising physician; and
WHEREAS, A valuable asset to the healthcare community, Provident graduate nurses work side-by-side with physicians to enhance the delivery of high quality healthcare for patients, often in medically underserved urban and rural communities; and
WHEREAS, Provident graduate nurses have earned the respect of the general public for their dedication and contributions to people's lives and for working together with the healthcare team to ensure delivery of more efficient and effective healthcare services;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the City Council members of the City of Chicago hereby assembled on this the 29th day of July, 2015, do honor Provident Hospital School of Nursing forthe significant impact Provident Nursing graduates have made in healthcare, and urge all citizens to commemorate August 22, 2015 as Provident Hospital School of Nursing Day; and
