Resolution
Whereas, Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine hosted its annual benefit dinner for the Global Health Initiative Fund on October 4, 2016; and
Whereas, The City Council has been notified of this event by The Honorable Harry Osterman, Alderman of the 48th Ward; and
Whereas, Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine believes in training the next generation of compassionate physicians and addressing health disparities worldwide ; and
Whereas, Their Global Health Initiative Fund provides resources for global health research, education and clinical care on a global basis; and
Whereas, The Global Health Initiative has funded over 750 medical students and residents to serve in 38 different countries in the last nine years; and
Whereas, October 4, 2016 shall be declared Global Health Day in Chicago in recognition of the Northwestern's dedication to creating global health leaders through the Global Health Initiative Fund . Now, therefore,
Be it resolved, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this day of November 1, 2016, do hereby express our gratitude to Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine for the exceptional work of the Global Health Initiative Fund to address pressing healthcare needs and for training our future doctors; and
