, Mr. James "Jimmy" Rey will retire from the Chicago Park District after forty-seven years of service. Mr. Rey is a caring and dedicated worker, truly setting an example of what it means to be a civil servant; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his retirement by the Honorable Deborah Mell, Alderman of the 33rd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rey began his career with the Chicago Park District in 1970; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Park District, Jimmy was promoted to Recreation Leader at Brands Park, Physical instructor at Brands Park, Playground Supervisor at Brands Park, Park Supervisor at Brands Park, Coordinating Manager City Wide Recreation, Health & Physical Activity Manager and Park Operations Manager of the North Region; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rey was known for his great communication skills and deep relationships with others, including park patrons, community leaders and elected officials; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and Members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this seventeenth day of January, 2018, do hereby extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. James Rey for his many years of service to the Chicago Park District and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution are presented to Mr. James Rey as a sign of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
