WHEREAS, On Wednesday, September 18, 2013, the Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom called Lisa-Brown-Holmes to her eternal journey; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Lona Lane, Alderman of the 18th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Lisa Brown-Holmes was bom on March 21 in Mangham, Louisiana, the thirteenth of fourteen children born to the union of Laura (Williams) Brown and Frank Mack. She attended and graduated from Alto High School in the neighboring community of Alto, Louisiana. As a young child, Lisa accepted Christ and she remained a faithful Christian all of her life, continually exhibiting Christ's love in her family, community and at her workplace; and
WHEREAS, Lisa relocated to Chicago, Illinois with her two daughters, Sandra Dee Brown (Peaches) and Cherry Lynn Brown. She attended Cortez Peters College and joined Lilydale Baptist Church. Lisa recently moved her membership to Third Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Rev. Dr. Alan V. Ragland, Senior Pastor. Lisa worked at Johnson & Johnson/Ethicon Company for 26 years and later worked for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office; and
WHEREAS, In 1979, Lisa was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Robert Holmes. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Robert; children, Sandra Brown-Fields (Edward), Cherry Brown-Stone (Fred), Eddie Harris, Jr., LaWanda Harris; stepchildren, Veronica Holmes-Harris, and Terry (Monique) Holmes; siblings, Katie Mae Stanfield, and Ola Ignont; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren , sister in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many devoted friends; and
WHEREAS, Lisa touched the lives of many through her kindness, integrity, strength, hospitality, her mastery of cooking, baking, and her style. She was loved by many for her discretion, support, and was admired for her intelligence and creativity. Her devotion to her husband and family, as well as her deep faith in God will not...
