RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Jeanne Clark has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Clark was a widely admired member of the law enforcement community and the loving wife of the late Patrick (CJ?.D.); and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Clark enjoyed a long and highly successful career with the Chicago Police Department and retired as Deputy Superintendent; and

WHEREAS, Raised in Resurrection Parish on the West Side, Jeanne Clark was the daughter of a Lawndale District detective; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Clark developed a love for reading at a young age and graduated from Siena High School; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Clark met her future husband, a former Captain, while at the police training academy and they eloped to England; and

WHEREAS, Jeanne Clark rose through the ranks becoming a Sergeant in 1980 and Lieutenant in 1988; and

WHEREAS, In 1989 Jeanne Clark became the first woman promoted to District Commander and in 1998 when she was named Deputy Superintendent and became the highest ranking woman in the Chicago Police Department; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Jeanne Clark upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Jeanne Clark serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, To her brother, Jim, and her sisters, Mary, Patricia, Rosie and Joan, Jeanne Clark imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-sixth day of July, 2017, do hereby commemorate Jeanne Clark for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeanne Clark.
