RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE LIFE OF BURNIS WHITE, SR.
WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called to his eternal reward, Burnis White, Sr., beloved citizen and friend, Sunday, August 23, 2015 4, 2013 at the age of 99; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Michelle A. Harris, Alderman of the 8lh Ward, and Chairman of the Committee on Committees, Rules and Ethics, has informed this august body of his passing; and
WHEREAS, Born August 9, 1916 in Holly Grove, Arkansas, Burnis was the loving son of Robert and Emma Williamson White. Burnis was the fifth of six children born to his loving and caring parents. He and his five siblings brought laughter and joy into the White Family home. At an early age, Burnis confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized; and
WHEREAS, After graduating from Wendell Phillips High School, Burnis enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country proudly and received an Honorable Discharge. On February 11, 1945 Burnis White, Sr. and the former Alma Surney were united in Holy Matrimony. This loving and devoted couple became a family; they were the proud parents of seven children; and
WHEREAS, Burnis was employed with Cook County as a guard at the Cook County Jail. He later worked at Kaiser Aluminum where he retired after many years of dedicated service to the company; and
WHEREAS, Burnis White, Sr., a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor, will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; and
WHEREAS, Burnis White, Sr. leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory his loving children, Gail Crenshaw, Donna Viney, Jeanette and Antonio; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two nieces, a nephew, a great niece, two great nephews, a newly born great-great niece and a host of other relatives and.many friends who thank God for giving them the opportunity of knowing a...
