Resolution Honoring Sargent Juan Clas
WHEREAS, Juan Clas is retiring from the Chicago Police Department and deserves great praise and gratitude from every Chicagoan; and
WHEREAS, Sargent Clas' service has made Chicago a better place for over 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Sargent Clas knew he wanted to serve and protect his community as a Police Officer from the age 5; and
WHEREAS, Sargent Clas was born in Pilsen and was raised in Little Village before moving to Cicero and graduating from Morton East High School; and
WHEREAS, Sargent Clas attended the Chicago Police Academy and began his career of service on June 16th, 1986; and
WHEREAS, Sargent Clas served in the 10lh and 11th Districts before making his final move to the 13th District; and
WHEREAS, Sargent Clas spent the last 16 years leading the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy program for the 12' and 13th Police Districts in the City's West Town neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Sargent Clas helped Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy take hold and make over a dozen Police Beats safer for everyone; and
WHEREAS, Sargent Clas now begins a well deserved retirement in his 36th Ward home on the Northwest side; and
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor of the City of Chicago and members of the City Council, gathered this twenty-sixth day of July, 2017, take this opportunity to recognize the years of service that Sargent Juan Clas has provided the residents of Chicago and wish him years of happy retirement; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of the resolution be prepared and presented to Sargent Juan Clas.
