MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of John R. "Jack" Keller, on July 7, 2014, at the age of ninety-one; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Born on October 27,1922. Jack was the beloved husband of the late Roberta "Bobby", nee Landis, his high school sweetheart for sixty-seven years; loving father of Peter (Maureen), Michael (Mary), Jeffrey (Jan) and the late Stephen; cherished grandfather of James (Dawn), Greg (Mari), Garry (Becky), Meghan (Andrew) Dribin, Eric (Phoebe), Shannon (Scott) Mahlebashian, Lee Anne, Cody, Kyle (Alice), Hayley (Jeff) Ropiequet, Caleb and Ethan; dearest great grandfather of seven; dear brother of the late William, Richard, Elaine, Rosemary and Elizabeth; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Jack leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, Jack, who touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, heart and spirit, was an active and vital member in his community, a proud veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific; co-owner and operator of George Keller Pottery, est. 1893, with his brothers; in addition, he loved golf and bowling and was ever so proud of his 299 game!

WHEREAS, Jack will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this thirtieth day of July, 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of John R. "Jack" Keller and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John R. "Jack" Keller.
