RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Cardinal Blase Cupich has ordained The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic has been named the Vicar of Vicarage II; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic was born in Neenah, Wisconsin, and raised in Ashland, Ohio; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic earned a bachelor of art's degree in theater from Ashland University; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic moved to Chicago in 1983 to pursue a career in acting before following a call to become a priest; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic earned a master of divinity degree in 1994 and a licentiate in Sacred Theology in 2001 from the University of St. Mary of the Lake; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic was ordained a priest by Cardinal Joseph Bernardin on May 21, 1994 and was first assigned as Associate Pastor at St. Agnes of Bohemia from 1994 to 2000; and

 

WHEREAS, From 2001 to 2016, the Most Reverend Mark Bartosic was the Pastor of St. Frances of Rome and since 2016 has served as Pastor of Assumption BVM Church; and

 

WHEREAS, The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic was the Director and Chaplain of Kolbe House at Cook County Jail; and

 

WHEREAS, The faithfulness, sacrifice and dedication of The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic serve as an example to all; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirty-first day of October, 2018, do hereby congratulate The Most Reverend Mark Bartosic on his ordination as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago; and
