RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, Patricia Walsh officially retired from the Chicago Police Department on June 15, 2015, to accept a position as head of security for Chicago State University; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her retirement by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, Raised in the North Lawndale neighborhood and later at East 89th Street and South Paxton Avenue, Patricia Walsh graduated with a degree in sociology from the University of Chicago; and
 
WHEREAS, Patricia Walsh worked for Boise Cascade, a Fortune 500 company, before leaving behind a corporate career and joining the Chicago Police Department in 1986; and
 
WHEREAS, During her 29-year tenure with the Chicago Police Department, Patricia Walsh upheld the highest and most noble traditions of the Chicago Police Department; and
 
WHEREAS, Patricia Walsh steadily rose through the ranks to serve as a Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Commander; and
 
WHEREAS, Patricia Walsh served in the Office of the Superintendent, the Organized Crime Unit, the Detective Division, Traffic Division and Patrol Divisions; and
 
WHEREAS, In November of 2013, Patricia Walsh was named Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Patrol for Area South and oversaw South Chicago, Calumet, Gresham, Englewood and Morgan Park Districts; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Patricia Walsh serve as an example to all; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this seventeenth day of June, 2015, do hereby congratulate Patricia Walsh on her retirement from the Chicago Police Department and do hereby express our best wishes for her continued success and achievement; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Patricia Walsh.
