MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Ellen Marie Villella, nee Chase, on June 22, 2014 at the age of eighty-four; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Ellen Marie, the youngest of four children of Marion G. Chase, was born on September 3, 1929 in Blue Island, Illinois. Beloved wife of the late Frank Villella; devoted and loving mother of Ann Marie, Frank, John, Mary, Ellen and Tom; caregiver of her two grandmothers; treasured grandmother of Cliff, Dylan and Travis; cherished great-grandmother of Tea, Ziggy and Charlotte; and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Ellen Marie leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Ellen Marie, a resident of the North Mayfair Community since 1961 was an active and vital member of her community, served as President of John Palmer Elementary School Parent Teachers Association; member of St. Anne Sodality at St. Edward's Church; member of the "Friendly Neighbors" Club; most recently serving as a Eucharist Minister; and
WHEREAS, Ellen Marie touched the lives of all who knew her through her kindness, her generosity, her heart and her spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her, now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirtieth day of July 2014, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Ellen Marie Villella and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ellen Marie Villella as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
