RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Stuart Stone has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age- of 74; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Stuart Stone was a widely respected newspaper publisher in DuPage County and a former Chief of the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company; and
WHEREAS, Following the death of his father, Stuart Stone took over publication of the family-operated Glen Ellyn News and the Wheaton Leader in 1970; and
WHEREAS, Stuart Stone later launched the Winfield Estate and the Warrenyille Post which served the communities of Winfield and Warrenville; and
WHEREAS, Following a long and successful career as a publisher, Stuart Stone sold the newspaper chain in 1999; and
WHEREAS, After retiring as Fire Chief in 2001 after 23 years of service, Stuart Stone spent time at his farm in northwest Illinois; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Stuart Stone serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Stuart Stone to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled, him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Stuart Stone imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-ninth day of March, 2017, do hereby commemorate Stuart Stone for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
