RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Brigadier General James F. Smith has gone to his eternal reward at the age of 54; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Cary, Brigadier General James F. Smith was a retired member of the United States Air Force and the loving husband of Jennifer E.; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General James F. Smith was the much-adored father of Luke, Matthew, and Joseph to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General James F. Smith was the dear brother of Maureen, Patricia, Stephen and Kelly; and

WHEREAS, During his career in the military, Brigadier General James F. Smith's assignments included wing, major command and headquarters comptroller and strategic planning positions; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General James F. Smith was also deployed as the senior military advisor to the commander of the Stabilization Force in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General James F. Smith retired from the United States Air Force as Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Plans and Programs where he supported national security objectives and military strategy; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General James F. Smith was a recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal; and

WHEREAS, Following his military service, Brigadier General James F. Smith was a Partner in the Butler Pappas Law Firm; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Brigadier General James F. Smith serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General James F. Smith was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Brigadier General James F. Smith imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
