RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Cindy Gatziolis has gone to her eternal reward at the age of 56; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Lincoln Park, Cindy Gatziolis was a widely admired broadcast industry and public relations professional; and

WHEREAS, Raised on the Northwest Side of Chicago, Cindy Gatziolis graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Michigan; and

WHEREAS, Cindy Gatziolis joined WLS-AM Radio where she worked on shows hosted by legendary radio personalities such as Larry Lujack and Fred Winston; and

WHEREAS, A consummate professional, Cindy Gatziolis went on to work in promotions and marketing at WGN-AM, WLUP-FM, WLUP-AM and WMAQ-AM before becoming Midwest Marketing Manager for General Cinemas; and

WHEREAS, In 2001 Cindy Gatziolis began a 12-year tenure as the Public Relations Director for the City of Chicago's Office of Special Events where she publicized many city events, including the Air & Water Show, the Chicago Blues Festival and Taste of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Cindy Gatziolis played a major role in the 2005 parade celebrating the White Sox World Series win; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Cindy Gatziolis serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Cindy Gatziolis to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, Cindy Gatziolis was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and

WHEREAS, To her sister, Frances and her brother, James, Cindy Gatziolis imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of December, 2014, do hereby commemorate Cindy Gatzio...
