RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His infinite wisdom has called Matthew E. Sobczak to his eternal reward; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman of the 13th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Beloved husband of Arlene M. nee Kistinger. Loving father of Patricia Ann (Fred) Biedess, Edward Arthur (Patricia), James Matthew (Carol) Sobczak, and Barbara Ann (Wayne) Christofferson. Devoted grandfather of Scott (Alisa), Katie, and Julie Biedess, Gina (Charles) Torbett, Christina and Jay Sobczak. Cherished great grandfather of Benjamin and Elisabeth Torbett and Scott Jr. and Alexandria Biedess. Loving son of the late Bernice Sobczak and the late Stanley Nikbor. Member of Hamfesters Radio Club for 63 years, President of Durkin Park Seniors, Post Office Advisory Board, Edison Safety Town Instructor. Received Senior of the Year Award from the City of Chicago. Retired from Commonwealth Edison with over 40 years of service and Retired Command Sergeant Major of the Illinois National Guard with over 40 years of service. Matthew E. Sobczak leaves a legacy of faith, dignity, compassion and love; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council gathered here this twelfth day of December, 2012, hereby express our sorrow on the death of Matthew E. Sobczak and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy.
