RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, On November 11, 2018 the Republic of Poland celebrated its 100 Anniversary of regaining their independence after 123 years of partitions by Russia, Germany and Austria-Hungarian empires; and
WHEREAS, This day is also important in America and elsewhere in the world because it marks the end of World War I on the western front in Europe; and
WHEREAS, The victorious allies - England, France, and the United States, celebrate this day as Armistice Day; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the year, a number of different celebrations have taken place to commemorate this centennial anniversary; and now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled here this twenty-third day of January, 2019 do hereby officially commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the founding of Poland, and express our congratulations to the Republic of Poland; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Consulate General of Poland in Chicago.
