RESOLUTI
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has oversight authority over the Chicago^cable franchisees through the Chicago Cable Commission; and

WHEREAS, the City of Chicago's Cable Ordinance bars discrimination in the payment* of wages, benefits; and

WHEREAS, the City Council's June 19, 2002 Cable Franchise Resolution approving Comcast Cable's application for assuming control of a cable franchise, included the condition that Comcast comply with or exceed the requirements of all federal, state and local laws and regulations relating to equal employment opportunity and respect all legal rights of organized labor; and

WHEREAS, cable franchisee Comcast Cable has asserted in its April 1, 2013 filing with the Chicago Cable Commission that its compensation is fair and equitable throughout its organization; and

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of members of the City Council that an issue of fairness and equity has arisen with respect to Comcast Cable; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Chicago that a full and fair hearing on said matter be held;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED THAT Comcast appear before the City of Chicago Council on a date and time certain to:
respond to recent complaints concerning Comcast Cable's alleged inequitable compensation system and non-compliance with the City's Cable Ordinance and the City Council's Franchise Resolution;
present documents and other records showing the classifications, rates of pay, and pay ranges for all employees at each of its Chicago facilities;
present documents and other records showing the maximum rates of pay, bonuses and other compensation at each of its Chicago facilities; and
identify what course of action it shall pursue to correct and make whole its inequitable compensation system, should it be determined to exist.
